Visa on arrival in Malaysia for Indian tourists would be ideal, but is not being provided due to the country’s own security considerations, Director-General of Malaysia Tourism Mirza Mohammad Taiyab said here on Thursday. He said Malaysia was not providing visa-on-arrival to Indian visitors although those with a visa for a third country, such as Singapore and Thailand, were allowed entry into Malaysia. Over 650,000 Indians visited Malaysia last year. The DG claimed that the disappearance of the Malaysia Airline flight between Kuala Lumpur and Beijing had not really affected the flow of visitors to Malaysia. “Trade visitors like businessmen may have opted for alternate airlines but the passenger load factor has not shown any drastic reduction. There does not seem to have been any major setback,” he added.
