Mild tremors were felt in northern parts of Chhattisgarh on the second consecutive day, although no loss of life or damage to property was reported.
“Mild tremors were felt in various districts of north Chhattisgarh, but there are no reports so far about any damage to property or casualties,” Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management department K R Pisda told PTI.
According to M Gopal Rao, meteorologist at Meteorological Centre in Raipur, the low intensity aftershocks measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale, were felt in northern parts of the state adjoining Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand at around 12.39 pm.
The tremors were felt in Surajpur, Korba, Bilaspur and Ambikapur districts, he added.
The aftershocks triggered panic in the region, following which people moved out of their houses and multi storied buildings.
District Collectors have been instructed to carefully monitor the situation, Pisda said.
