In spite of the unscientific bifurcation of State of Andhra Pradesh, which had put tremendous pressure on the revenues of the residual State, and severe bottlenecks, AP has achieved appreciable progress in the achieving the objective of inclusive growth, according to ESL Narasimhan, Governor of Andhra Pradesh.

Delivering his address to the Joint Session of Andhra Pradesh Legislature, the Governor said due to relentless hard work and dedication, the State could successfully achieve double digit growth during 2015-16.

As per advanced estimated, the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) at constant (2011-12) market prices, registered a growth of 10.99 per cent as against the corresponding national growth of 7.6 per cent. The overall gross value added growth was 10.50 per cent at constant prices as against 7.3 per cent at the national level has bolstered the state image.

The Governor said agriculture sector could register 8.4 per cent growth with the support from allied sectors despite drought and the industry and services sectors achieved growth of 11.13 and 11.39 per cent respectively.

He said, “It is heartening to note that the per capita income has reached Rs 1.07 lakh for the first time.”

“My government is aiming to achieve 15 per cent growth in the next fiscal year so as to place the state among the best in the country and live up to the unflinching trust and confidence reposed on the leadership by its people,” he said.

Glossing over the achievements of the State, the Governor said, “Sustaining double digit growth for the next 14 years is imperative to ensure that AP stands tall among its peers. Going beyond the Human Development Index, our focus will be on enhancing the happiness index. The Government’s vision is to make AP among the top three performing states by 2022, top performing state by 2020 and the best destination in the world by 2050.”
