Rajiv Gandhi National Aviation University, India's first aviation university, will be inaugurated today. Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju, his deputy Jayant Sinha, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Congress vice president and Amethi MP Rahul Gandhi, among others are expected to attend the inaugural event. The university is planning the launch of its flagship programme in 2018 at its campus in Fursatganj, Rae Bareli district, Uttar Pradesh.
Chinese original device maker Topwise Communication will launch its ‘Comio’ brand of smartphones in India today. Comio will play in the Rs. 6,000-12,000 price bracket, which accounts for 35-40 per cent of the smartphone market in volume terms.
The inter-ministerial group on telecom is likely to meet today. One of the proposals that is still being debated is easing of spectrum cap within a particular band (currently pegged at 50 per cent) in case of mergers and acquisitions. Pakistan’s top anti-graft organisation has summoned ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his two sons in money laundering and corruption cases on Friday on the order of the country's Supreme Court.The National Accountability Bureau has issued summons to Nawaz Sharif and his sons — Hussain and Hasan — to interrogate them in its Lahore office in connection with their offshore properties revealed by the Panama Papers case.
US President Donald Trump would discuss the country's South Asia strategy with his national security team on Friday at Camp David, a picturesque presidential retreat in Maryland, the White House said today. US National Security Advisor Lt Gen H R McMaster would be among those attending the meeting. US' South Asia strategy has hitherto primarily revolved around Afghanistan, but the Trump administration feels that the war-torn country needs a regional approach involving both India and Pakistan to resolve the decades old problem.
