The Karnataka government at its 42nd State High Level Clearance Committee (SHLCC) meeting has approved projects and expansion with a total investment outlay of Rs 23,382.20 crore.

The biggest of the new projects is to build a 2,000 MW solar park spread over Balasamudra, Tirumani, Kyataganacharlu, Vallur and Rayacharlu villages in Pavagada taluk of Tumkur district.

Karnataka Solar Power Development Corporation plans to build thepark at a cost of ₹14,800 crore and is expected to provide jobs to 8,000 people.

The committee also approved Udupi Power Corporation Limited’s proposal to increase capacity from 1200 MW to 2800 MW with an investment of ₹4570 crore at Yelluru village, Udupi district.

Minera Steel is to put up a 0.5 MTPA integrated steel plant with 35 MW captive power at Yerabanahalli village, Sandur taluk, Bellary district with an investment of ₹1889.30 crore.

Other projects cleared include Tata Power Company’s ₹620 crore expansion to build electronic equipment, telecommunication devices, night vision devices, alternate energy products, systems and sub-systems for Railways and Defence.
