KIOCL, a Central public sector undertaking, has urged Union Minister for Steel Birender Singh and Union Secretary Aruna Sundararajan to speed up the process of allotment of captive iron ore mines to it.

The Chairman and Managing Director of the company Malay Chatterjee submitted the details through a power point presentation highlighting the status of the company and need for a captive iron ore mines.

Review meet Later, Singh reviewed the performance of KIOCL in the presence of Union Secretary Steel and other senior officials of the mines ministry.

The performance of KIOCL, besides the various mining lease applications, initiatives and efforts taken so far in acquiring mining assets and the bottlenecks thereon were discussed in detail.

The Minister expressed satisfaction over recommending an iron ore block in Devadari Range in Ballari sector recently by the Karnataka government in favour of KIOCL, which has not had a mine for a decade on closure of the Kudremukh mines.

O&M vertical Singh appreciated the effort of KIOCL for opening its O&M vertical for gainful utilisation of its human resources. KIOCL has already taken up three plants to operate and maintain with its own expert available manpower.

The Union Minister also reviewed the initiatives of the company in implementation of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and laid emphasis on the Skill Development initiative taken by the company. The minister promised all support and assistance for the rejuvenation of KIOCL.
