The Chief Minister-designate of Gujarat Vijay Rupani and his deputy Nitin Patel along with the BJP state in-charge Dinesh Sharma visited Governor O P Kohli on Saturday afternoon to stake claim to form the new government.

The oath-taking ceremony of the Chief Minister, his deputy and the council of minister will take place on Sunday at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar around 12.30 pm. Governor Kohli will administer the oath.

Meanwhile, Rupani on Saturday afternoon resigned from the post of State Party president paving way for a new face to head the organisation in the state, which is going to polls in a year's time.

BJP president Amit Shah along with other party leaders are likely to be present for the ceremony.

Earlier this week, Anandiben Patel was relieved from the post of Chief Minister after the BJP Parliamentary Board accepted her resignation.

The names of Vijay Rupani as Chief Minister and Nitin Patel as Dy chief Minister were declared by the Union Transport Minister, Nitin Gadkari, who was sent as the Party's central observer on Friday.
