The President Pranab Mukherjee on Friday appointed Kaptan Singh Solanki as the Governor of Punjab till further orders. Solanki, already the Governor of Haryana will also be the Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh from January 21.
The current administrator of Chandigarh, Shivraj V Patil completes his tenure on January 21.
In another decision, Kalyan Singh the current Governor of Rajasthan has been asked to take additional charge as Governor of Himachal Pradesh from January 24. Kalyan Singh will come in place of Urmila Singh who completes her tenure on January 24.
