A paan seller here got the shock of his life after he received an electricity bill of ₹132.29 crore this Diwali season. The Haryana power utility Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam said the bill was the result of a “blunder” caused by a technical problem in its online billing software.
Admitting the “goof-up”, the power utility has found that the actual bill of paan seller Rajesh Chautala was ₹1,668 for two months, with a consumption of 232 units. “It was a shock for me when I saw the bill of ₹132.29 crore,” Chautala said, adding that his bill was usually around ₹900.
