The inaugural match of the Celebrity Badminton League has postponed and the venue changed.

The first match will take place in Kochi on September 24 instead of the original planned September 18 in Chennai.

“Considering the unfortunate current issue between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, the franchise partners Chennai Rockers, Karnataka Alps, Kerala Royals and Tollywood Thunders along with CBL management have proposed two changes from the original schedules,” said a statement from L Hemachandran, Founding Director and CEO of Celebrity Badminton League Pvt Ltd.

In the inaugural match, Chennai and Bengaluru teams were to play against each other on September 18 and another match between them was to be held on October 8. Both have been rescheduled to a later date in October, and the dates will be announced shortly, he said in the release.

“Karnataka Alps is an integral part of the CBL season-1, as much as the others and all the teams are determined to play the sport in right spirit. We have taken this decision as a responsible organisation to ensure peace and harmony on behalf of Board and Franchise Partners,” he said.

The league consisting of celebrities from from entertainment industry in the South including Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Telugu industries.

The seasons’ official launch will be held on September 17 with Karnataka Alps team to introduce via audio-video format.

All other schedules remain same. This includes matches in Malaysia.
