Lufthansa’s controversial GDS fee comes into effect today. The airline will levy a fee of €16 (about ₹1,200) on tickets booked through third parties in a bid to boost profits. Lufthansa has set the cat among the pigeons as airlines battle to maintain profits in the face of tough competition.

Tatkal train bookings will no longer require passengers to produce identity proof. However, the passenger will have to produce original proof of identity during the train travel.
