It is often believed that MBA students are not keen on research but focus on higher salaries only. Well, you can’t say that of the students at the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi, at least. The B-school has won the North Zone Finals of the CFA Institute Research Challenge India. Other finalists from North India were teams from IIM Rohtak, MDI Gurgaon, IMT Ghaziabad, IMI Delhi and Infinity Business School.
The competition aims at promoting best practices in equity research among the next generation of analysts through hands-on mentoring and intensive training in company analysis and presentation skills.
A total of 43 business schools are participating across the five zones in the research challenge organised by the Indian Association of Investment Professionals. The winners of these zones will compete at the national level, from where the winner will represent India in the Asia-Pacific regional challenge. The competition is supported by National Stock Exchange, Bloomberg and FitchLearning.
Introduced in 2006, the CFA Institute Research Challenge is considered ‘the investment Olympics’ for university students. This year, more than 3,500 students from 775 universities worldwide will participate in the local rounds of the competition.
