Thousands of employees of various companies of the Adani Group are being encouraged to donate blood voluntarily for emergency requirements in their neighbourhoods as part of an initiative of the Adani Foundation.

Employees at the Group's projects at Mundra, Dahej and Nalia (Gujarat), Tiroda (Maharashtra), Kawai (Rajasthan), Mohindergarh (Haryana) and Chhindwara (Madhya Pradesh) have been roped in for the initiative. As part of community health service, nearly 1,500 employees of Adani power Ltd and the Mundra Port and SEZ Ltd collected 700 litres of blood in June, a company statement said here today.

Under the initiative, a comprehensive database of all employees volunteering to donate blood will be maintained and relevant data made available at various locations. The quantum of blood that can be collected at any given time will be continuously updated.

In distant and non-urbanized areas like Mundra, Naliya, Dahej, Tiroda, Kawai and Chindwara, this blood donation campaign would be benefit the local residents, said Mrs Priti Adani, Managing Trustee of the Foundation, which runs health centres and mobile health vans in many of these regions. This is a caring gesture from a few thousand employees of the Adani family for the people residing in neighborhoods of places where the Group has operations, she added.

Recently, over 1,300 employees of Adani Power Ltd, spread across various project locations, contributed 600 litres of blood to different agencies. Over 200 employees of MPSEZ donated another 100 litres of blood.

The Adani Foundation, set up in May 1996 for undertaking activities ensuring sustainable development and creating harmony with people residing in neighborhood of Adani Group's operations, is registered as an NGO and operates in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Himachal Pradesh. It is active in education, community health, sustainable livelihood and rural infrastructure development.
