Ashok Leyland has reported a 33.93 per cent increase in net profit at Rs 298.22 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2011 against Rs 222.66 crore in the corresponding quarter last fiscal.
In a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange, the company said its net sales rose to Rs 3,828.53 crore during the quarter under review from Rs 2,939.04 crore in the same period last fiscal.
The company’s board, which met today, has recommended a dividend of Rs 2 per share (200 per cent) of Re 1 face value for the full fiscal.
For the year ended March 31, 2011, the company has posted a net profit of Rs 631.29 crore, up 49 per cent from Rs 423.67 crore in the previous fiscal. Net sales rose to Rs 11,117.70 crore from Rs 7,244.71 crore.
Meanwhile, the company shares of Ashok Leyland ended the session up by 1.95 per cent at Rs 48.60 on the BSE today.
