The Kolkata-based Dhunseri Petrochem Ltd plans to acquire tea estates overseas. The acquisition will help increase tea production to 20 million from the existing 13.5 million, the company said in its annual report. According to the report, the company has already sold one of its tea estates in Assam (Namsang Tea Estate) for a consideration of Rs 28.29 crore. The company was also looking to sell another factory and negotiations in this regard are already on. The company, which bought new leaf factories, said in its annual report that operations in these factories are being stabilised, and is expected to achieve the targeted quantity of 3 mn kg tea, depending on the availability of quality green leaf at competitive rates.
