The Discover Smart Drive, a four-day road trip sponsored by Ford India and flagged off from Kozhikode last Friday, culminated in Thiruvananthapuram, on Monday.
The Discover Smart Drive was conducted on the back of Ford Figo winning the most number of Indian auto industry awards in 2010, including the coveted ‘Indian Car of the Year 2011' award, a company spokesman said here.
ONLINE CONTEST
Mr Krishna Prasad and Ms Rajashree Raghavendra drove the award-winning Ford Figo into the city, completing the 600-km southern region Discover Smart Drive.
The couple was selected through an online contest inviting young couples willing to participate in cross-country drives, on www.drivingford.in.
To qualify, couples had to send in their nominations by sharing the most memorable activity that they have participated in, during a vacation and unique destinations visited.
As part of the Kerala Drive, the couple will get to share their journey stories, photos, and experiences online on their Facebook, Twitter, Orkut profiles and blogs.
The couple drove the ‘victorious Figo' through Kochi, Thrissur, and Kottayam, helping Ford to thank its customers across Kerala.
Growing market
“Discover Smart Drive brought us closer to our customers in Kerala,” Mr Anurag Mehrotra, Vice-President, Marketing, Ford India, said.
With over eight dealerships, Kerala is one of the fastest-growing markets for the company in the region, Mr Mehrotra added.
Discover Smart Drive was an innovative way in which Ford seeks to thank its customers in India, starting with the Kerala Discover Smart Drive.
Ever since the drive began, dealerships in Kerala have witnessed a spike in response with increasing enquiries and footfalls.
Strong base
The smart and substantial features in the Figo have already stirred up a strong customer base of over 60,000 since the launch of the car in March 2010.
From becoming the second fastest car to reach the 50,000 sales milestone to winning country's top auto awards, the Figo set many records last year, Mr Mehrotra said.
