The much anticipated India-Pakistan semi-final of the cricket World Cup got ratings of 11.74, “exceptionally high” for a 50-over encounter, across the channels telecasting it to C&S homes all over India, says a press release from Audience Measurement and Analytics Ltd (aMap). The channels are ESPN, Star Cricket, Star Sports and DD1. The India-Australia match scored ratings of 6.53 and India-England 6.44.

The match recorded a peak rating of 20.2 in the end when India's win was inevitable. The only other peak rating which came somewhat close was 10.10 on March 23, towards the close of the India-Australia match, which, too, India won. The average time spent on the match was 160 minutes per person, the highest in this World Cup so far. Viewers on average spent 115 minutes on the India-Australia match and 99 minutes on the game with England.

Despite it being a weekday, 67.3 million viewers watched the India-Pakistan match, aMap said.

Real time DTH market share till 8 p.m. showed that Star Sports share was over 45 per cent, that of Star Cricket 15 per cent and DD1 over 35 per cent.

Yesterday's match led to a 20 per cent dip in the full-day GRPs of the GEC genre, with a subsequent increase of 514 per cent in the GRPs of the sports genre over the average of last four Wednesdays, aMap said.
