LG Electronics is lining up 23 new models in the smart LED television category for this year, expecting this segment to drive growth in the Indian television market. It will be bringing out a total of about 50 new models this year. “Out of the 23 models, eight will be in the ultra HD,” Rishi Tandan, Marketing Head (Home Entertainment), LG Electronics India, told media persons on the sidelines of the India Gadget Expo 2014 on Thursday.
After introducing the world’s first curved OLED technology in India, the company is gearing up to launch the ultra HD line-up, along with the first WebOS technology. “The WebOS features simple left-to-right scrollable menu, which makes it possible to switch between all forms of content, including broadcast TV, VoD movies, games, apps and media files stored on connected devices,” he said. The ultra HD models are priced between ₹1.5 lakh and ₹15 lakh. The electronics major is also introducing smart television models with HD cinema 3D on the WebOS platform with 42, 47, 55 and 65 inch size versions.
