Lanco Infratech Ltd has posted lesser total income of Rs 1,561 crore in the third quarter ended December 31, 2010, as against Rs 1,612 crore in the same quarter last year. The decrease was attributed to decline in the income from power trading that fell to Rs 118.53 crore from Rs 251 crore in the same period last year.

However, the net profit for the third quarter stood at Rs 164 crore (Rs 107 crore) on reduced expenditure. Though the cost of employees grew to Rs 123 crore (Rs 62 crore), the company's overall expenditure came down to Rs 1,004 crore (Rs 1,345 crore) in the quarter.

Contribution from power trading segment also fell in the nine-month period to Rs 1,292 crore this financial year as against Rs 1,414 crore in the comparable period previous year, according to the consolidated figures announced by the company.

The company's net profit for the nine-month period was put at Rs 429 crore (Rs 345 crore), the company informed the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The percentage of pledged shares (of the total share holding of the promoters) was put at 18.43 per cent in the quarter as against 64 per cent in the comparable quarter.

For the quarter, the company's standalone income went up to Rs 2,027 crore (Rs 1,320 crore) and the net profit stood at Rs 133 crore (Rs 114 crore).
