Seven-year-old Mohamed Ashik from Madurai has been crowned as the winner of the eighth annual kids' television award – POGO Amazing Kids Awards 2011 in the Genius category, held at Mumbai on Saturday. POGO, is a multi-genre channel created exclusively for kids in India, launched by Turner on January 1, 2004. Mohamed Ashik has won recognition not only in India but also internationally. He has been conferred with the ‘Youngest World Map Recogniser' certificate from World Records Academy, USA; ‘Memory' Certificate from Record Holders Republic – UK; and ‘Memory Power' certificate from Global World Records – India. Mohamed competed in the ‘I Revived the Mahatma' All India Elocution competition at Noida at the age of five and was awarded the runners up certificate by former the Union Minister, Mr Oscar Fernandes. Recently, he received the ‘World Record' for his record feet on the Plain World Map from USA, UK and India for which he received praise from former President, Mr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
