DSK Motowheels has introduced the Italian superbike maker Benelli range of bikes in Hyderabad offering five models to start with and outlined plans to introduce at least four more models over the next 10-12 months.

Opening DKS Motowheels first showroom in Hyderabad in association with Jhabakh Auto, its sixth in the country so far, Shirish Kulkarni, Chairman of DSK Benelli, said the company plans to set up 20 showrooms by the year end which includes some in the tier II cities. These locations have already been identified.

“We are in the process of bringing a 250cc bike and 1131cc Tourer versions and will add two more models later. The 250cc model in particular would make it attractive for those upgrading to superbikes,” he told Business Line.

The five bikes on offer start with TNT 300 M priced at Rs 2.88 lakh ex-showroom and go up to Rs 12 lakh for TNT R a three-cylinder 1130 engine capacity bike.

“Within a short time, we have managed to book more than 400 bikes and are in the process of addressing deliveries. It takes about one and a half month for first batch of deliveries, which would be brought down to three weeks soon and further to two weeks,” he said.

“The super bike market in the country, a category of 250 cc bike and above capacity, has grown by about 50 per cent last year to end with about 10,500 units. This is expected to grow at about 50 per cent this year too. In such a market, we plan to garner about 20 per cent share or sales of about 3000 units of Benelli bikes this year,” Kulkarni said.

“Our main focus is to align DSK Benelli’s presence across all strategic locations in order to generate strong brand eminence in key markets. The dealership will not only act as a platform to sell motorcycles but also a place for Benelli super bike enthusiasts to interact with other bikers and share their love for Italian biking legend,” he said.

The Benelli bikes draw from over 104 years of biking expertise and heritage known world over.

The Pune-based DSK group has partnered with Benelli to assemble and market them in India. The Group has a tie up with Korean bike maker Hyosung too for super bikes.
