The Eastern Group, the leading brand of spices, seasonings and other related food products in India and West Asia, will ship condiments and spices of 100 containers (1,000 tonnes) in March. The new manufacturing facility opened in Kotahmangalam will also help in reaching the milestone of 100 containers in a month, Mr Navas Meeran, Vice-Chairman, Eastern Group, has said.

The containers, shipped from the Vallarpadam Container Terminal, are intended for West Asia, the US, Canada, the UK and Australia, he said after the inauguration of the new manufacturing facility at Kothamangalam.

The factory is spread over nine acres and has a built-up area of 60,000 sq ft. The warehousing facility has the capacity to hold more than 1,000 tonnes of raw material and processed goods separately. The factory, built with the most modern building technology of Kirby construction, is having unique three-tier process flow as required by the food safety laws and energy efficiency. The factory is also known for its totally human-hands-free manufacturing system under a totally “controlled environment process”.    

The plant is designed in such a way that once the raw material is fed in to the system, product is taken out fully packed in the desired quantity after all processing. When fully functional, the plant has the capacity to produce 150 tonnes of masala and curry powder, thus making the total production capacity of Eastern Condiments to 300 tonnes per day.
