Essar Steel said on Wednesday that it has clocked its highest ever monthly crude steel production at 3.8-lakh tonnes in March, up 24.04 per cent, as compared to 3.07-lakh tonnes in the year ago period.
The company’s finished steel production also rose — 25.41 per cent at 3.97-lakh tonnes — in March this year as against 3.17-lakh tonnes in the year ago period, a release issued here stated.
Essar Steel is close to completing its expansion of steel making capacity to 10 Million Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA).
As a part of this expansion, Essar Steel has already commissioned two iron making units.
On completion of the expansion, Essar Steel will be the largest flat steel producer in a single location in the country, the release said.
Further, the company also recently commissioned India’s first 5-m wide plate mill with a capacity of 1.5 MTPA, it said.
