Global investment firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co (KKR) on Monday said it has appointed Mr D S Brar, a former director of the Reserve Bank of India, as a senior advisor to the firm.

In his new role, Mr Brar will look after KKR’s Asia portfolio management committee, which interacts with the company management, monitors all of KKR’s private equity investments in the region and provides guidance and input on the operations of companies, KKR said in a statement.

Commenting on the appointment, KKR’s India Operations Head, Mr Sanjay Nayar, said: “D S Brar has a breadth of business, economic and government experience and we are very pleased he will bring his expertise to bear on our current and prospective investments as a Senior Advisor to the firm.”

“I am honoured to have the opportunity to work with KKR in bringing value to both Indian and global companies across a broad range of offerings,” Mr Brar said.

Mr Brar currently holds board positions in various Indian and international companies and from 2000 to 2007, he had served as a Director of the RBI and was also a member of the Inspection and Audit Sub-Committee of the Central Board of Directors of the RBI.

Earlier this month, KKR had appointed Mr Dhiren Mehta as its India director.
