The world’s largest brand consulting firm Interbrand plans to set up its local operations in the early part of the next year.

“Come January 2013, we would have Water (the brand strategy and design consultancy arm of the Mudra Group), which is now an Interbrand Group which will be turning into Interbrand India. We are in the migratory phase now. There are three more months to go before we finally integrate with our global networks,” Interbrand India chief strategist and head Ashish Mishra told reporters here on Tuesday.

“Much like our Global Brands (survey), the same methodology and analytics will be used to leverage and create a local ranking. We intend to come out with most valuable Indian brands ranking by the first quarter of 2013,” he added.

According to the Global Brands, which is a study by Interbrand on the world’s most 100 valuable brands, beverages giant Coca-Cola has retained its position as best global brand in 2012, ahead of the technology major Apple, which jumped six position this year.

This is the 13th consecutive year where Coke has been named as the best global brand with a valuation of $ 77.84 billion.

Apple came in second with a 129 per cent rise in brand value to $76.57 billion.

However, not a single domestic brand has managed to crack into the top 100 brand list.
