Confederation of Indian Industry recently organised the first edition of NextGen Logistics Conclave in Pune, highlighting the need to adopt digital trends and technologies by industries in the region.

Addressing the inaugural session, KV Mahidhar, Executive Director and Head, CII Institute of Logistics, said agriculture and industrial logistics registered 10 per cent growth, which generated 20 million jobs in the country.

He added that logistics is also one of the top five employment generating sectors in India.

Sudhir Gurtoo, Convenor, CII MSME Panel, and MD, Leadec India Pvt Ltd, said Industry 4.0 is the fourth industrial revolution in logistics where the snowball effect plays a vital role, which means when one company implements the change the rest pace up faster.

Other speakers at the inaugural session included Rajesh Wazarkar, Managing Director, Hyster –Yale Lift Trucks India Pvt Ltd, and Sudhir Bokil, Co-convenor, CII Pune MSME Panel, and Head Sourcing, Sandvik Asia Ltd, who spoke about decoding the present scenario of the Indian logistics and supply chain sector.

The one-day conclave focused on adopting digital technologies in supply chain, intralogistics solutions – trends, innovations and best practices while being more efficient in operations.

The speakers highlighted on the practices and broad perspectives that are required to lead their organisations through the global energy landscape of today and tomorrow through various focused presentations.

The conference had 17 speakers, including experts from leading companies, Indian institute of materials management, CII Institute of logistics.

The conclave also included presentations from start-ups, who displayed their business models, and were able to network with best industry names in logistics. More than 85 delegates from different industry sector participated in the conclave and interacted with the experts, the CII Pune Zone Office press statement said.
