Multisorb, a provider of oxygen and moisture management technologies, has set up a new manufacturing facility here with an investment of $6 million.

The facility has completed validation and will begin production and delivery of Multisorb’s sorbent products in the coming weeks, Eric Armenat, President & Chief Executive Officer, Multisorb, told newspersons at a press conference held here on Thursday.

The facility was built by GMR Hyderabad Aviation SEZ for Multisorb on a built-to-suit-mode and has been given to the latter on lease for 38 years.

The facility has the capacity to manufacture 30 crore pieces and is capable of producing Multisorb’s MiniPax, StripPax, IntelliSorb and StabilOx active packaging components, solutions for providing chemical and physical stability in pharmaceuticals and medical devices.

According to Laxmikant Khaitan, General Manager, Multisorb, the company has 60 clients in India, including pharma majors such as Dr Reddy's Laboratories Ltd, which was one of the reasons for the US-based company to choose Hyderabad as a location for its facility.

It will shift production being done for India customers in the US to the new facility here over a period of time. It now has about 35 employees and expects to double the head count going forward. Multisorb is a business of Filtration Group, and had a turnover of $125 million in 2017, about 10 per cent of which came from Indian customers.
