OK Play, a BSE listed firm known more for the toys it manufactures, wants to dovetail its newly designed e-rickshaw product with CSR activities of companies, so that they can part-finance the product and help manual rickshaw drivers migrate to e-rickshaws.
The rickshaw has a number plate as well as dedicated space for advertising. The company expects that the firms adopting this e-rickshaw for their CSR activity can get the plastic moulded in colours that portray the company, and use it as a “mobile advertising” platform.
OK Play, which has a global patent for the product is also designing e-rickshaws with solar panels, said Rajan Handa, Managing Director, OK Play India.
Eyeing the last mile connectivity market, the firm has developed an electric-rickshaw that will run on power for 80 km. While the retail price will vary on taxes, the company says that the product will cost about Rs 1.15-1.2 lakh. The product material has a ten-year warranty.
“The product was designed in a manner to make users want to ride the e-rickshaw. We are looking at developing other variants of the product such as some for carrying freight, for waste management, with wind shields,” Handa, OK Play India Ltd, said in a press conference.
The company has an exclusive tie-up with Crossroads for providing warranty to the rickshaw drivers. It has also has an exclusive tie up with Iffco-Tokio Insurance for the product.
