The Visakhapatnam steel plant (Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited) has achieved sales turnover of Rs 8,636 crore during April-December, 2015, registering a growth of eight per cent, according to a press release.
Exports during the period amounted to Rs 935 crore.
The company has bagged the star performer award for 2013-14 in the exports category for the second year in succession. The award was instituted by the Engineering Exports Promotion Council of India.
Despite volatile and difficult market conditions, RINL achieved growth of 21 per cent in saleable steel production during April-December. Its sales of Rs 1,617 crore with a volume of 5 lakh tonnes in December was the highest since inception.
P.Madhusudan, the CMD, terming 2016 a “very promising year for RINL”, expressed confidence that the targets set for the New Year would be achieved.
