Sterlite Power Grid Ventures said on Wednesday that the company is deploying ‘Aircrane’ for setting up power transmission lines in Jammu & Kashmir.
Sterlite Grid will partner US-based Erickson Inc to stall 160 transmission towers using the American firm’s S64 Aircrane, a heavy lift helicopter.
“With the NRSS 29 Project set to commence in mid-2016, Sterlite Grid expects to commission the transmission network between Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir nearly 10 months ahead of schedule,” the company said in statement.
“Erickson will fly materials and steel to build the towers utilising the S64 Aircrane, capable of high-precision aerial lift work,” the statement added.
Jammu & Kashmir’s power demand is at about 3,000 MW and the transmission project will enable the state to draw double the power requirement from the national grid.
