Swal Corporation Ltd, an arm of UPL Group, has launched four crop protection products for cotton, rice and pulses targeted at the Andhra Pradesh market.
“Andhra Pradesh is an important market to us and accounts for one-third of our business. The new crop protection products will be used for key crop in the State,” Vijay Kumar Bhatt, Business Head, Swal Corporation, told newspersons here on Sunday.
The newly-launched products include Panama (to provide pest control from sucking insects mainly in cotton and rice with Japanese technology), Swacch (a granular herbicide in rice for control of three major weed grasses) and Patela to protect balckgram, groundnut and soybean crops from all kinds of weeds. The company, formerly Shaw Wallace Agrochemicals Ltd), was also increasing its focus on in-house research and developments. “Out of 57 products, we have two of our own patented products, while the rest are generics. Going forward, we will launch more patented products,” Bhatt said. By the year-end, Swal plans to launch 10 more new products.
Swal is expecting to clock Rs 450 crore turnover in the current financial year. Last year, it had posted Rs 300 crore turnover, he said.
