Bengaluru-based men’s apparel brand Tailorman will invest ₹12 crore to open nine stores across India by March 2018. Plans are under way to include women’s wear by mid-2017.

Tailorman was started in 2013 as a company that caters to made-to-measure segment. Currently, the company has four stores in Bengaluru, three in Chennai, one in Kolkata and Hyderabad.

Speaking to BusinessLine , Vidya Nataraj, Co-Founder, Tailorman, said: “We are planning to set up new outlets in Mumbai, Pune, Chandigarh and Hyderabad. We are also experimenting with Kochi.” Gautam Golchha, Co-founder and Managing Director of Silver Crest Clothing, said: “Each outlet depending on the size will have an investment of ₹80 lakh. We are planning to double our stores in the next one year.”

Fitting category

After the success of their venture in the fitting category, Tailorman ventured into ready-to-wear category in October 2016 in Hyderabad. Golchha said, “It was successful. The category will be available in all nine stores of Tailorman by April 2017.”

Majority of the company’s revenue comes from retail and 25 per cent through e-commerce. It expects to close March 2017 with a turnover of ₹24 crore.

“We recently launched travelling tailors in Bengaluru, who will go to the client’s place for fitting. We are bringing this service to Chennai. Based on demand, the service will be introduced in other regions,” Golchha said. Tailorman is experimenting with formal wear for women.
