Unichem Laboratories has posted an 8.9 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 36.09 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2013.
The company had posted a net profit of Rs 33.14 crore during the same period previous fiscal.
Net sales, however, declined to Rs 262.20 crore from Rs 263.29 crore, Unichem Laboratories said in a filing to the BSE.
The board of directors today appointed Prakash Mody as Chairman and Managing Director for five years with effect from July, 1, 2013. It also approved a dividend of Rs 4.50 per equity share of Rs 2 each (225 per cent).
Shares of Unichem Laboratories ended at Rs 166.60 a piece on the BSE, down 5.61 per cent from their previous close.
