Welspun Corp Ltd is pumping in $100 million in its Little Rock, Arkansas, US, facility, the company’s first large-diameter pipe manufacturing unit in North America.
The fresh investment for capacity expansion, the second in three years, will add 200 more jobs at the facility.
With this expansion, the total investment in the unit would go up to $280 million since opening it in April 2009. The pipes are primarily used in the oil and gas industry.
Mr B.K. Goenka, Chairman of WCL, expressing satisfaction over the US facility’s performance, said that it had “cemented the firm’s global reach in servicing some of the largest oil and gas companies in the world’’.
Initially employing more than 300 people, the company announced its first expansion one year later adding 230 jobs and an additional $30-million investment.
Welspun’s latest spiral pipe and coating facility has an annual production capacity of more than 3.5 lakh tonnes.
