The Kolkata police on Thursday filed a chargesheet against 16 people in the AMRI fire incident that led to the loss of lives of over 90 people (mostly patients) at the hospital's Dhakuria's unit on December 9.
According to the chargesheet, 400 witnesses have been examined by the police. Offenders have been booked under various sections relating to the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and West Bengal Fires Services Act.
Meanwhile, the Alipore Court on Thursday confirmed conditional bail to physician Dr Mani Chhetri. Other than Dr Chhetri, two directors, Mr R.S. Agarwal and Dr Pranab Dasgupta, were earlier granted bail. Ten others including six directors and four employees of the hospital are still behind bars.
