Essar Group's Aegis Ltd is eyeing to set up its second management institute in Kolkata. Discussions are on with the State IT Minister, Mr Debesh Das, for allotment of land in Rajarhat.
Aegis currently has one such institute offering diploma courses in Integrated Customer Experience Service Management in Coimbatore. The diploma course has a duration of 11 months.
Mr Aparup Sengupta, managing director and Global CEO, told newspersons on the sidelines of Infocom 10-11 that the institute would require 20 acres of land and would have an initial intake of 500 to 1,000 students.
IIIT plan
The IT Minister, meanwhile, said that the Centre had asked the State to set up an Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT).
While 50 per cent of the funds required for the project will be provided by the Centre, 35 per cent will be provided by the State. The remaining 15 per cent will be provided by the industry.
“We have written to the Centre regarding the matter,” he said, but did not specify any timeframe.
