Taking a cue from information technology industry, Butterfly Fields, founded by a group of IIT and IIM graduates, have launched ‘Concept Maps' for IIT and AIEEE aspirants.

“In IT companies, they explain most difficult concepts on a single sheet. Explaining in it in detail and in several pages is no big deal. We have decided to work on replicating this idea for education. To begin with, we have developed concept maps for physics, mathematics and chemistry with a view to explaining most difficult things in a simple manner,” Mr K. Sharat Chandra, Director of Butterfly Fields, said.

Huge demand

“There is a huge demand for IIT and AIEEE entrance tests. While 4.5 lakh students attend IIT JEE, while about 8 lakh students appear for AIEEE. We have studied their needs carefully and prepared the concepts,” he said.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, he said the set of three books were being sold at Rs 750. These maps were available online as well. Well-known IIT trainer and legislator, Mr Chukka Ramaiah, released the books on Sunday. The company, which specialises in developing educational aids to classes 3 to 10{+t}{+h}, received a seed fund of $1 million from Aavishkar, the micro-equity fund focused on ideas that impact society recently. It might go for second round of funding after two years.

Currently, they have tie ups with 50 schools in Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, West Bengal and Delhi.
