The North Eastern Regional Power Committee (NERPC) will meet next month to decide on a high-power transmission line from the Palatana power project in south Tripura to Bongaigoan in Assam, officials said today.
The 726-MW gas-based power project of ONGC-Tripura Power Corporation (OTPC) would start generation by February next year for distribution to north eastern and other states for which a 650-km transmission line for hook up with the national power grid in Bongaigaon was necessary.
The Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Tripura State Electricity Corporation, Mr Niladri Sekhar Chakarborty, had said yesterday that technical experts would meet on power transmission from the Palatana project to other states.
The plan was likely to be finalised at another meeting of experts and a final decision would be taken at the NERPC where power ministers of north eastern states were members.
Tripura will receive 196 MW and Assam the highest of 240 MW, besides Nagaland, Meghalaya and Manipur 27 MW, 79 MW, 42 MW respectively and OTPC 98 MW from Palatana.
