Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) organised an awareness campaign on its financing scheme for energy saving projects in micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME), in the city recently.
Mr N.B. Narjaree, General Manager, SIDBI, Coimbatore, explaining the features of the scheme, supported by a line of credit from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), said that the minimum assistance is Rs 50 lakh and the projects having energy potential would be funded at a concessional interest rate of 10 per cent and the units would be additionally eligible for benefit under credit linked capital subsidy scheme of 15 per cent of the cost of the special machinery for the purpose.
Mr P.R.K. Sobhan Babu and Mr P.T. Dhandapani of Winrock International India gave a presentation on the benefits of energy efficiency in MSME sector and possible energy saving subprojects for Madurai SME cluster.

About 50 members representing various industries participated, said Mr R. Ramesh, AGM, SIDBI, Madurai, in a press release.
