Nearly 26 per cent, worth ₹3.13 crore, of the 17.643 lakh kg on offer at Sale No: 33 of Coonoor Tea Trade Association auctions remained unsold despite average prices falling marginally to ₹65.42 a kg from previous week’s ₹65.86. Pekoe Dust grade of Homedale Estate topped CTC market at ₹204 a kg. Red Dust grade of Homedale Estate, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, also topped when Badusha Tea Co bought it for ₹204. Broken Pekoe of Homedale topped the CTC dust auction fetching ₹180. In all, 29 marks got ₹125 and more. Kodanad Estate topped orthodox dust auction and the entire market this week when its tea was bought for ₹255 a kg. Kairbetta got ₹242, Havukal ₹232 and Chamraj ₹224. In all, 35 marks got ₹125 and more. Quotations held by brokers indicated bids ranging ₹40-43 a kg for plain leaf grades and ₹100-124 for brighter liquoring sorts. They ranged ₹40-50 for plain dusts and ₹110-175 for brighter liquoring dusts.
