Amul fondly remembered its founder Verghese Kurien, Milkman of India, on his second death anniversary on Tuesday. Kurien passed way on September 9, 2012, at Anand, which he made his home for life after he arrived at the small town in May 1949 as a government employee to look after the operations of a government-owned dairy.
Leaving the government job he joined the Kaira Milk Union, helping farmers in their fight against injustice in the milk trade. He bequeathed to the world the Amul model that could find solutions to the hunger and poverty of millions of people.
