For the second consecutive week, the average price at the auctions of Coonoor Tea Trade Association stood above ₹100/kg level and reached ₹102. 53 a kg at Sale No: 47 against the previous week’s ₹100.72. Such a phenomenon of average price ruling above ₹100 consecutively is happening for the first time since April 21, 2017.

Besides, this was as much as ₹27 more per kg compared to the price fetched this time last year. Despite this, 93 per cent of the offer was sold due to increased demand.

Homedale Red Dust, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped the entire CTC auctions when Tea Services India P Ltd., bought it for ₹239 a kg.

In the CTC Leaf tea auctions, three grades of Homedale Estate tea, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped at ₹232, ₹231 and ₹217 each.

Among orthodox teas, Chamraj topped at ₹246 followed by Kodanad ₹242 and Kairbetta ₹216.
