Spot turmeric prices increased at Erode markets by ₹200 a quintal.
“Due to the arrival of medium variety Finger turmeric the buyers quoted higher price purchased about 1,000 bags. But the price of the Root variety was down by ₹100 because of the quality and the traders procured 300 and odd bags,” said RKV Ravishankar, President, Erode Turmeric merchants Association.
At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association sales yard, the finger variety turmeric was sold at ₹4,719-7,761 a quintal; the root variety ₹4,599-6,709. Of the arrival of 905 bags, 402 were sold.
At the Regulated Market Committee, the finger turmeric went for ₹6,199-7,606; the root variety ₹6,137-6,699. Of the 286 bags offered, 260 were traded.
At the Erode Cooperative Marketing Society, the finger turmeric fetched ₹6,211-7,649; the root variety ₹6,099-6,739. Of the 830 bags on sale, 808 were sold.
At the Gobichettipalayam Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Society, the finger turmeric was sold at ₹6,499-7,412; the root variety ₹6,003-6,817. All the 89 bags found takers.
