Spot turmeric prices increased at the markets in Erode on quality arrivals and emergence of upcountry demand. “Prices of both the varieties increased on Thursday. Arrivals of the spice too doubled to 4,800 bags. Some traders purchased good quality turmeric for their North Indian orders,” said Krishnamurthy, a trader. Regarding the prices, finger turmeric was up ₹250 a quintal and root was up ₹100 at the Regulated Marketing Committee. The root variety increased by ₹350 and the finger variety by ₹200 at the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association. Both the varieties gained ₹100 at the Erode Cooperative Marketing Society.
