The path has been cleared for revival of virginia tobacco exports to China, a move that will be of great benefit to farmers and the trade, according to a press release issued by the Tobacco Board here.
The issue was discussed by Anup Wadhawan, Commerce Secretary, currently on a tour of China, with the Vice Minister of General Administration of China Customs, responsible for market access and quarantine issues. A phyto-sanitary protocol was signed by Indian and Chinese officials, to facilitate tobacco exports to China.
China was once an importer of Indian tobacco but subsequently there was a break for several years. India can supply quality tobacco to China, adds the release.
