The continuing rains in Tamil Nadu have helped revive coconut oil prices in the last two days, registering a price increase of ₹100-150 a quintal. According to Thalath Mahmood, President, Cochin Oil Merchants Association, the prices are at ₹10,900 a quintal in Kerala, while in Tamil Nadu it is ₹10,000. Copra prices also went up slightly, touching ₹6,800/quintal in Kerala, while it rose to ₹6,500 in Tamil Nadu. However, the market is likely to witness a declining trend further due to the absence of a firm corporate and upcountry demand.
