Spot turmeric prices decreased on Monday. “Many turmericfarmers, anticipating a price rise, brought 4,000 bags of new turmeric and 1,000 bags of old turmeric,” said Krishnamurthy, a trader. He said that the buyers purchased all the good quality turmeric. The price of turmeric was down ₹60 a quintal in futures, so the buyers quoted decreased price. Manyfarmers said that they are having more than three lakh bags of old turmeric, but the buyers are quoting below ₹7,000 , so they are bringing very limited stock for sale. On Monday, 75 per cent of the arrived turmeric were sold. The hybrid finger turmeric lost ₹100 and the local finger turmeric was down ₹350. The price of the finger and root turmeric in all the markets decreased by ₹200 . At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, the Salem Hybrid finger turmeric was sold at ₹5,639-8,099 a quintal; root variety ₹5,364-7,027. The local new finger turmeric was sold at ₹6,394-7,822; root variety ₹6,039-6,894. Of the 3,780 bags arrived, 1,452 were sold. Our Correspondent
