Spot turmeric prices increased by ₹1,000 a quintal at Erode markets on strong demand amid an arrival of just 4,000 bags. Traders purchased quality hybrid turmeric at a higher price to fulfil their upcountry orders. Krishnamurthy, a trader, said at the Erode Cooperative Marketing Society, some bags of hybrid finger turmeric fetched as high as ₹9,100 a quintal. On Monday, the new turmeric crop was up ₹200 . At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, finger variety was traded at ₹6,589-8,929 and root variety at ₹5,855-8,299.
