A volume of 18.83 lakh kg has been catalogued for Sale No: 26 of Coonoor Tea Trade Association to be held on Thursday and Friday. This is some 11,000 kg less than last week’s offer. Of this, 13.46 lakh kg belongs to leaf grades and 5.37 lakh kg, dust grade. As much as 17.60 lakh kg belongs to CTC variety and only 1.23 lakh kg, orthodox variety. In the leaf counter, only 71,000 kg belongs to orthodox while 12.75 lakh kg, CTC. Among the dusts, only 52,000 kg belongs to orthodox while 4.85 lakh kg, CTC. “A new sale record was created last week when we sold as much as 1,030 lots in a single session for the second time in the history of south Indian tea auctions. Last year, we had crossed 1,000-lot-mark for the first time,” Ravichandran Broos, General Manager, Paramount Tea Marketing, told BusinessLine .
