Consumers Association of India, an NGO in the interest of consumers, has launched “CAI Consumer Connect’ service enabling public to file their grievances via mobile phone across the country.
“By downloading the application free-of-charge, consumers can register their complaints directly with CAI...,” the Consumers Association of India (CAI) Trustee, Mr R. Desikan, told reporters here today.
For offering the service, the company has tied up with the city-based IT firm Avon Mobility Solutions which has developed the application.
Consumers need to access the website of CAI www.caiindia.org and download the application on their GPRS enabled mobile phones free-of-charge, he said.
“After receiving the information from the consumer, the complaint will be studied by CAI and relevant advice would be given to the consumer within seven working days...,” he said.
To start with the, service would be available in select cities which would be later launched across the country. In the last 10 years, CAI has handled over 9,000 complaints and 95 per cent have been settled, he added.
